Hattie Coultas | Do What Makes You Happy

Who and what got you involved in CrossFit?

My mom joined CrossFit and I always went down to watch her because I thought it was really cool to try it someday. One day the owner of the gym asked if I wanted to try it and I did obviously.

What is the number one philosophy you live by?

My number one philosophy is to do what makes you happy and try your hardest in life.

What has been the highlight of your CrossFit journey?

My highlight has to be the community environment that I experienced at every CrossFit gym I’ve been to.

Who is your biggest inspiration inside and outside of the gym?

In the gym I think it would have to be my mom because she does so much to help people. She became a coach and she’s such a strong person physically and mentally. Outside obviously Katrina Davidsdottir and Mathew Fraser because after he broke his back, I think it’s amazing how he is now the fittest on the earth.

What is your ultimate goal in CrossFit?

My ultimate goal is to go to the games at some point, or open my own CrossFit gym to help people become fit and achieve their goals.

What advice would you give females starting to get in to the gym and fitness?

I would tell them to try anything and do what makes you happy. Find good people to train with because it makes a massive difference.

What was an obstacle you had to overcome?

My mom and I once had to leave the first gym we were training in due to personal reasons. I found it really hard to leave that gym and go somewhere else but I’m happier where I am.
