What got you involved in the sport, and who were the people who helped you get into the sport?
I've been doing sports my entire life, and dance since I was 2 years old. My parents got me into sports. In primary school, I was on all the sports team. I have recently gained a sports captain role in my secondary school. My dad is my biggest role model. He just turned 50, and is still taking part in crossfit. He beats all of the younger athletes at our box. He's just great to train with.
What has been your biggest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement to date is coming first in the UK and third in Europe last year in 2017. I had only been doing crossfit for about six months, and I got by first pull-ups during 17.4 and got about 14. Now I can do chest to bar pull-ups.
What is your favorite lift and why?
My favorite lift has got to be the snatch. I think this is because I have the flexibility to get low down in my squats. It sort of just comes natural to me due to being a dancer.
What is your favorite cheat meal, and what does your diet consist of?
My favorite cheat meal has to be ice cream. It is super refreshing after a long workout of the day, and it makes me feel a lot better. I'm not too strict on my diet because I am only 16 and in school. I normally have a bagel and eggs in the morning, tuna or chicken for lunch and a steak or something for tea with green vegetables.
For people starting out in the sport, what are some tips you would give?
I would tell them to not compare yourself. Work to your abilities and work on both your strengths and weaknesses. Don't stop until you're proud.
What was an obstacle you faced and how did you overcome it?
My biggest obstacle would be time. It's hard to fit everything in with revision at this age. I just completed GTSE's, so fitting crossfit, dance and everything else I do is really difficult. I just believe that hard work pays off.
