What got you involved in the sport, and who were the people who helped you get into the sport?
My mom and my sister got me into crossfit. They did crossfit and convinced me to try it. Now I have been doing crossfit for over three years.
What has been your biggest achievement to date, and what is your ultimate goal in crossfit?
My biggest achievement to date in crossfit would be going to wodapalooza and winning. My ultimate goal in crossfit is to make it to the games and to podium, and maybe even win. I have online qualifiers coming up and hopefully I can qualify.
Who has been your biggest role model outside the gym, and who is your biggest in?
My biggest role model outside of the gym has to be my parents. They help me so much with everything, and they push me to workout. My biggest role model would have to be my coach, James Townsend. He shows me a lot of ways to get better and to keep pushing. He has a big impact on my life.
Crossfit is known to have long term effects on growth/ your body, what is something you’d tell parents of kids interested in the sport about this?
What I would tell parents of these kids is that personally it hasn't affected me height wise since I started crossfit. I have grown so much since I started. I would tell the kids that they can do it and that there are way more benefits than negatives to crossfit.
What is your favorite cheat meal, and what does your diet consist of?
My favorite cheat meal would have to be ice cream. As for my diet, I am going to start eating healthier with online qualifiers coming up. I am starting to eat better, but previously I would eat whatever I wanted. My focus now is to eat chicken and vegetables.
What advice would you give someone who is just starting out in crossfit?
The advice I would give people just starting in the sport would be to keep pushing no matter what. It is going to be hard because crossfit is hard. Keep going because it is going to test you mentally and physically. It's about how you keep pushing through the pain.
What was an obstacle you had to overcome?
An obstacle I faced in crossfit would have to be my mentality. Sometimes in a workout once it gets hard, I start to not give a lot of effort. I get over it by letting myself know that I can do it no matter how hard it gets. The thing I have the hardest time with is my mentality, but I am getting way better at it.
